#1, What defines American culture? I'd have to say it's defined through what we put out there. So it revolves around media which now a days is very popular with all of the technology the world has. Everything we do defines American culture and who we are today. A big example would be our tv shows we put on air and have potentially broadcasted internationally. All of these tv shows portraying American culture gives everyone a idea of how americans live. For an example the tv show Jersey shore gives people the idea that everybody in their 20's drink and party all the damn time. If you see somebody's clothes on a show you're going to want to buy it and have it yourself. American culture can also be defined by it food. Not so much the good stuff but the fast easy way for a nice filling meal. Fast food has become a icon of America and has given us a bad reputation of being some type of country full of tv watching burger eating people.
#7, What is a man's role in society? The man's role in society is to be the providing male. The protector, the supporter, the dominate figure. Generally the man is supposed to be a hardworking person who works to provide for his family. The man is supposed to be the person in the family who sets all of the rules and tells the wife and kids what to do. Also he protects everyone that he loves and cares for. Which is why he may set rules and have certain type of standards to follow. At the same time of doing all of these things he is just supposed to represent his family and mold it to how he wants it to be displayed to everyone else.
#8, How influential is the media..., Rather we like it or not the media pretty much make all of our choices for us. Every single day of our lives we are affected by media in some way. It could be on tv, a radio, bumper sticker, a sign in someones yard, whatever it is you cant avoid it. Lets say you're really hungry one night and a commercial comes on for KFC, the food they are advertising appeals to you and you decide to go out and get some chicken wings from KFC for dinner. The commercial decided what you were going to eat for dinner. Another example would be the clothing people wear, they make it so there is something special to make other people want to wear that certain brand. If you see somebody wearing a cool shirt with a certain graphic design on it and you like it, you're most likely going to be more tempted to buy one for yourself. When you buy a brand of anything, and wear it, eat it, blare it out of your windows (music) you are advertising for that company without knowing it.
